Review: Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Resort, Riviera Maya, Adult All-Inclusive

  • Massive Private Plunge Pools: Every oceanfront suite has its own huge concrete balcony with a private plunge pool. Total privacy!
  • Next-Level Service: The personalized butler service (shoutout to Pamela, Rene, and Daniel!) makes the whole experience feel totally intimate and bespoke.
  • Pristine & New: The entire resort was bought and fully renovated by Marriott in 2024/2025, so everything is gorgeous and updated.
  • Gourmet All-Inclusive: The dining is focused on quality, à la carte menus and fine dining—not those huge, average buffets.
  • Luxury Waterfall Shower: The gigantic, two-foot-wide rainfall showerhead in the open-concept bathroom is pure indulgence
  • The Access Road: To reach the seclusion, you have to take a slow, rustic, 1.5-mile dirt road through the mangroves. It’s bumpy, but it’s worth it!

  • ATM Currency: The ATM on site only dispenses U.S. Dollars (no Pesos), so remember to bring small bills for easier tipping.

  • Boutique Vibe: This is a small, quiet, adults-only resort with low occupancy. It’s perfect if you hate crowds.

  • Cool Wildlife: Keep an eye out for local fauna like roaming peacocks, iguanas, and the furry coatis!

Luxe Stay at the de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Resort

Seriously, picking a Luxury Collection resort is always our favorite kind of treat. Our trip to the Riviera Maya? It was absolutely perfect! Here’s our honest, casual review covering how we arrived, the gorgeous rooms, the cool history, and all the amazing food we ate at this exclusive, adults-only spot.

The Journey & Arrival: Our Hidden Gem

The drive from the Cancun airport totally set the tone for this secluded, boutique vibe. Forget the easy highway access of those huge Cancun hotels. Getting to Paraiso de la Bonita means taking this super rustic, slow road—about 1.5 miles through the mangroves. You can tell the road’s seen some rain! It’s a bumpy, 5 mph drive, but it just makes you feel like you’ve arrived at this exclusive, hidden gem.

Since we drove ourselves from the airport, checking in was a breeze. No crazy lines or 30 people checking in at once, like larger more less intimate resorts. The valet and lobby area were quiet and quaint. We were immediately guided into a private office to finalize everything. Super quick and totally painless, which is exactly what you want when you first arrive.

Ambiance, Design, and The Transformation

Walking into the main lobby? Wow! We were immediately hit with this stunning ocean view framed by beautiful water features all over the place. The decor is amazing—there’s this elaborate wooden chandelier, and the whole vibe, with its Mayan/African-inspired design, feels unique and non-traditional. Tulum vibes with a twist.

Quick background: Marriott actually bought and fully renovated this spot in 2024, reopening it as a Luxury Collection resort in early 2025. So everything—the rooms, the decor—is basically brand-new and pristine. You can tell they dropped serious money on the upgrades. There are still a few landscaping bits they’re finishing up, but honestly, it doesn’t take away from the exclusive feel at all. It’s already gorgeous, and once they finish those final touches, they’ll probably start to charge double next year.

This place definitely feels more like a boutique resort than one of those huge, sprawling complexes, which is why the service is so next-level personal. Throughout the meticulously maintained grounds, we even saw cool wildlife, like roaming peacocks, iguanas, and coatis running in little groups. It’s a very unique property on the wildlife front.

Oceanfront Suites and Private Luxury

We were so excited about our oceanfront suite. It had a huge, separate sitting area with a comfy couch and table. And the hotel left us a nice bottle of champagne and some macaroons as a welcome gift.

The actual bedroom was super comfortable and luxurious. But the bathroom? It was a great size. It had a hidden water closet, a walk-in closet, and an open-concept shower, which we absolutely loved. That shower is very large, it has a two-foot-wide rainfall showerhead—it felt like a waterfall. Everything was perfectly placed, and there was a gorgeous soaking tub ready for us.

But the best part had to be our outdoor space: a huge concrete balcony with a massive private plunge pool overlooking the ocean. Since the water wasn’t perfect this time of year, we actually stayed off the beach and just hung out by the main pool and plunge pool, enjoying the view of the beautiful palm trees.

The Adult All-Inclusive Dining Experience

The all-inclusive food here isn’t just quantity; it’s all about quality and exclusivity. For a smaller resort, they offer an excellent range of dining options.

Daily Meals & In-Suite Refreshments:

  • Breakfast: We had a delicious à la carte breakfast every morning at K’uhul, where they’ll cook eggs, quesadillas, and almost anything else you want, all included. We always toss the staff a couple of bucks to say thank you!

  • Lunch: We mainly ate lunch by the pool. The Mexican spot had a huge barbecue pit, and they’d deliver pretty much anything you wanted right to us. The menu isn’t huge, but the food is seriously good—way better than the Royalton down the road where we were staying next!

  • In-Suite Mini-Bar: Okay, here’s a fantastic touch: the fridge in our room was restocked daily with complimentary beer, sodas, Gatorades, and coconut water. Snacks and drinks in the fridge? Daily win!

  • Money Tip: Gratuities are included, but if you’re planning on tipping extras, there’s an ATM onsite. Just know it dispenses U.S. dollars, not Mexican Pesos. So, be prepared and bring smaller bills for easy tipping!

We were really impressed with the dinners. We even got to meet the chef one night, and they made us special treats, including a beautiful shrimp dinner. The low number of guests made the nightlife feel quaint and relaxing, too!

Unparalleled Service and Personal Touch

Honestly, the service is what made the trip! Our dedicated butlers—Pamela, Rene, and Daniel—were absolute stars. They made everything special, talking with us before we even arrived and hanging out with us while we were there. We had the best long chats and just loved getting to know these amazing hosts.

Since this is a new Marriott Bonvoy spot, the employees are extra enthusiastic and treated us like royalty. Because there weren’t too many people staying there, the staff-to-guest ratio was perfect, making the whole experience feel super intimate and bespoke.

Wellness and Experiences: More Than Just a Pool

One thing we didn’t talk enough about is their incredible wellness offerings. The resort is home to the famous Thalasso Center and Spa. If you want serious relaxation, you absolutely must check out the Thalassotherapy pool—it uses filtered seawater to really rejuvenate you. It’s a full-on luxury wellness center, not just a quick massage spot, and it’s a huge draw for the property.

They also offer some super cool daily activities, which is perfect for couples who want to do something fun but still laid-back. We saw things like engaging cooking classes where you can learn local techniques, and those elegant wine tasting events at Côté à Costa’s 2,750-label wine cellar.

The Pools and Daytime Fun

Beyond the private plunge pools, the resort has two gorgeous main pools you can relax at! One is super quiet and tucked away near the gym, complete with soothing running water—perfect for relaxing. The main pool is where the action is, surrounded by restaurants and the outdoor bar. It also features these awesome daybeds you can rent for about a $100 minimum spend. That minimum is basically a credit if you want to upgrade your experience with a nice bottle of wine or champagne, which, obviously, we totally indulged in.

Having the daybed with a bottle of wine made our day by the water so lovely. And the fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down! In the evening, the outdoor pool bar stays open, and they even had a DJ playing music, which made for a really fun night. If we go back, we already know the perfect routine to enjoy the resort to the max!

Final Verdict

All in all, the Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Resort, gives you this amazing mix of quiet seclusion, high-end design, and service that’s just ridiculously personalized—it’s nothing like those huge Cancun resorts! If you want a tranquil, Adult All-Inclusive spot with luxurious suites and fantastic food, this boutique resort in the Riviera Maya is a total must-visit. Easily plan your trip using Classic Travel.
