Lakefront Luxury: The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee
The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee is easily one of our favorite escapes in Georgia. This beautiful retreat is tucked away just an hour outside of Atlanta. It serves as an excellent getaway for anyone seeking a premium lakefront experience.
You will find everything from boating and gorgeous decor to total “lake vibes” and water-side dining here. It is a place where luxury is woven into every detail.
The Marriott STARS & Luminous Advantage
We booked this stay as a Marriott “STARS” reservation. This invitation-only program is designed for top-tier luxury travel agencies like Classic Travel. It allows guests to receive VIP treatment usually reserved for high-status members, regardless of their own personal loyalty tier.
Our STARS VIP Perks Included:
Daily Breakfast for Two: Full American breakfast included.
$100 Resort Credit: Applied toward our amazing meals and cocktails.
Personalized Welcome: Multiple handwritten letters from the hotel management & Classic Travel.
Welcome Amenities: A beautiful spread of free wine, fresh fruit, and decadent desserts.
Priority Upgrades: Enhanced recognition upon our arrival.
Arrival
Arriving at the property involves a scenic drive quite far off the highway. Once you pull down the beautiful driveway, you are immediately surrounded by luxury.
The resort is framed by a world-class golf course and the shimmering lake. Valet was available the moment we pulled up to help unload our bags.
The staff whisked everything inside, making the check-in process at the lobby desks incredibly quick and efficient.
The Hotel
The lobby is absolutely stunning, striking the perfect balance between grand architectural design and lodge-like warmth.
It features rich, comfortable furniture arranged in intimate seating areas. Beautiful stone fireplaces roar to life, setting a cozy, high-end tone the moment you step inside.
The atmosphere encourages you to linger and soak in the lakefront elegance.
After we checked in, the seamless service continued as a bellhop personally guided us to our room. He shared insights about the property while expertly handling all of our luggage.
The service was exactly what you would expect from the Ritz-Carlton brand—attentive, warm, and professional. They ensured we felt like the most important guests on the property.
The Suite & Room
We specifically selected a room with a private fire pit. Since the weather was a perfect 70 degrees, having this beautiful room with a massive bed and plenty of furniture was already great, but being able to walk out onto the patio terrace to see a private fireplace and multiple chairs was amazing!
While the fire pit rooms do not come with an interior larger than a traditional room, the terrace level definitely adds significant square footage to the overall experience. We were so happy we chose this option as we didn’t want to deal with a balcony or mess around with elevators.
If I had another option, I may have picked the ground floor level of the hotel specifically so I didn’t have to use elevators at all, but I would still take a fire pit over a larger-sized room any day.
Knowing that you can walk out of your back door and immediately be at the lake or the restaurants is a game changer. Since we were located right next to the dining areas, walking out of the back door was incredibly fast and convenient.
Bathroom Features
Our room came with a perfectly sized bathroom that carried all the luxury details you expect from a Ritz-Carlton stay. It was meticulously designed to feel both functional and high-end.
The space included all the essential bells and whistles, featuring a large stand-up shower and a separate deep soaking bathtub. The vanity area provided ample room for us to get ready for our evening birthday celebrations without feeling cramped.
Unique In-Room Amenities
The room was filled with thoughtful details. We found a fully stocked fridge and all the sockets and plugs needed to keep our electronics charged.
The most unique feature was definitely the fire pit. It adds significant square footage to your living space.
Sitting by the fire with the lake in the distance was the highlight of our stay.
Restaurants and Lounges
The culinary experience on-property is diverse and impressive. We were blown away by the variety of settings available.
Gaby’s by the Lake: Surrounded by the main infinity pool, Gaby’s offers a breathtaking bar and dining area. We enjoyed beautiful cocktails here and highly recommend their wings with ranch dressing. You can sit in the main dining area near the fireplace or opt for the lower level closer to the lake. (Hours: Daily 11:30 AM – 9:00 PM)
Amore del Lago (Lagos): A sexy, beautifully designed Italian restaurant on the terrace level. We enjoyed a massive, delicious meal here. The convenience of walking from our fire pit room straight into the restaurant was a highlight. (Hours: Daily 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM; 3:00 PM – 9:30 PM)
Linger Longer Steakhouse: Located at the clubhouse, this is a classic white-tablecloth experience. The steaks and service are exceptional. (Hours: Daily 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM)
Oconee Cove (The Speakeasy): Hidden behind a wall of “tales” in the lobby area, this reservation-only speakeasy is incredibly unique. It has specific hours, so check with the concierge. (Hours: Mon, Wed–Sat 6:00 PM – 12:00 AM)
Lobby Lounge: Perfect for cozy nightcaps, featuring fireplaces and plenty of comfortable seating. (Hours: Mon–Thu 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM; Fri–Sun 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM)
In-Room Dining: We opted for room service breakfast, specifically the traditional American Breakfast. It was high quality and very convenient, with automatic gratuity already added to the bill.
Poolside Service: While not all seasonal spots were open during our March trip, they do have poolside bars to grab drinks and cocktails while you lounge.
Amenities & Gym
The property is expansive with plenty of room to explore. The main pool area is quite large and features multiple levels. This allows you to enjoy your own space without being crowded.
The Infinity Pool: This is the cornerstone of the resort’s “backyard.” It offers endless views of Lake Oconee and is heated for year-round comfort. During peak season (Memorial Day to Labor Day), it typically functions as an adults-only sanctuary for guests 12 and older. You can also rent luxury poolside cabanas here that include TVs, refrigerators, and dedicated service.
The Family Pool: Located near the shoreline, this pool is a destination for families with interactive water features like geysers and splash pads. It is situated right next to the Ritz Kids Clubhouse, making it easy to transition between activities.
The Indoor Spa Pool: For those looking for a quieter lap-swimming experience, the spa features a 20-meter indoor pool with its own fireplace and plush lounge chairs.
Fitness & Spa: A 24/7 state-of-the-art fitness center is available, along with a newly transformed 27,000-square-foot spa.
Shopping: Down the hallway off the lobby, there are several stores. You can snag a Gucci purse or Ritz-Carlton swag, including beachwear and even items for your puppy!
Final Closing
We were very fortunate to visit during March. The “off-season” timing meant we felt like some of the only people on the property.
It was calm, quiet, and incredibly romantic for Kerry’s birthday.
If you are looking for a luxury lake escape that feels both grand and intimate, I highly recommend The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee.
We had a fantastic time and cannot wait to go back!
