- Hotel Fact: JW Lobby Bar offers an astonishing menu of 150 unique, specially crafted margaritas, each paired with a different fine tequila or mezcal. The menu is so extensive, it’s proudly displayed on a nearly four-foot-tall stand! The margaritas are broken down into categories like Classic, Modern, Fusion, and Exotic, with unique ingredients like Nutella, black mole, or serrano chili peppers.
Stunning Beach: The resort’s pristine white sand beach and gorgeously blue water are a major highlight.
Exceptional Pools: Multi-tiered pool system offering variety, from large swimming areas to shallow spots for relaxing.

The Resort Experience: A Perfect Cancun Getaway
The JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa in the heart of the Cancun Hotel Zone stands out as a truly perfect, luxurious destination. While not aiming for a “Ritz Carlton” atmosphere, it is undeniably a beautiful and high-end resort experience, ideally sized for a relaxing several-day stay.
We found this resort to be the perfect launching pad for our two-week Mexican adventure before heading to Tulum. It’s just the right size—not overwhelmingly large—making it easy to navigate and enjoy.
Location and Accessibility
The hotel’s location is a key benefit. Arriving by car, the complimentary valet parking was a smooth and welcoming experience. Crucially, the resort is easy to walk in and out of. If you wish to step outside the hotel and explore nearby local Mexican cuisine, like the popular Rosanegra, it is conveniently close and easily accessible on foot.
Accommodations and Amenities
Our rooms were spacious, with most offering beautiful ocean views, a staple of a quality Cancun beach resort.
The resort features a gorgeous lobby, which is an excellent area for checking in and enjoying the ambiance. For relaxation, the resort has a beautiful and extensive world-class spa area (Sens-yah Spa) which offers a chance to truly unwind.
Pools and Beach Bliss
The outdoor space at the JW Marriott is expansive and impressive. The pools are a major feature, distinctively multi-tiered, offering a variety of swimming experiences. Whether you desire a massive pool for a proper swim or a more shallow area just to lounge and rest, this resort caters to every preference.
Our most significant “wow” factor, however, was the incredible beach. The sand is exceptionally clean and white, and the ocean water is a magnificent blue—it was, without a doubt, one of our favorite beaches among all the hotels we’ve experienced in Cancun. The beach area provides charming little tiki huts for shade, coupled with prompt and attentive service for food and alcoholic drinks.
Dining and Drinks: A Culinary Dream
The quality of the bars and restaurants at the JW Marriott is fantastic. From the outdoor pool bars to the sophisticated indoor Italian restaurant, the beverage service across the entire facility, including the famous lobby bar, was an absolute dream.
The JW Lobby Bar is a must-visit, known for highlighting a contemporary ambiance and offering an impressive collection of up to 150 specially crafted margaritas, curated by innovative mixologists.

The nice, luxurious feel permeates every part of the experience, from the rooms to the pool and spa areas. We absolutely loved this JW Marriott property!
