The Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa: A Comprehensive Review of Luxury Desert Suites
This review details a stay at The Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa, highlighting its unique suite-style accommodations, expansive grounds, and world-class amenities in the heart of Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs.
Introduction: An Enriched Desert Stay
The Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa offers more than a typical hotel stayâitâs a full desert living experience. Set against the stunning San Jacinto Mountains backdrop in Rancho Mirage, this resort complex provides a unique blend of luxury amenities and the comforts of home. Our visit, while for work, was pleasurable and invigorating, showcasing the resortâs dedication to guest wellness and relaxation. As the resort often states, they genuinely strive to “Enrich your stay in Palm Springs.”
Arrival and Initial Experience
Checking into the resort was still a breeze and a welcoming experience. At the front desk, we were immediately given a detailed map, which proved necessary, as this facility is truly massive, encompassing a championship golf course and multiple pool areas. After the check-in process, we drove to our specific building. Like many expansive properties, especially those resembling large resorts often found in places like Orlando, you find your designated building number and park nearbyâa very typical and efficient setup for a complex of this size.
The Hotel Grounds and Resort Scale
The resortâs vast scale is one of its defining features. The property is beautifully maintained, creating an atmosphere of seclusion and tranquility. Each accommodation building is easily accessible and features an elevator to all floors, which is a great convenience. The grounds themselves are a destination, inviting guests (many of whom are local “staycationers,” as we noticed) to slow down and enjoy the amenities. The sheer size, which includes the golf courses and surrounding pathways, makes it feel like a self-contained community.
Hotel Suite: Luxury and Self-Sufficiency
Upon reaching our accommodation, we definitely loved the size of our massive suite. This was not a traditional hotel room; it was a full experience. Our suite included a full kitchen, a large living room with a television, and a private balcony. The bedroom and bathroom were also impressively spacious.
A key highlight was the ability to cook and wash clothes while staying here, thanks to the in-room washing machine and dryer. This self-sufficiency is a significant benefit for longer stays or families. Our beautiful suite overlooked one of the pools, providing a lovely view from our private balcony. To ensure deep, undisturbed rest, the room features signature Westin HeavenlyÂŽ Bed and thoughtful Sleep Well amenities, such as lavender balm and a sleep sound machine.
Restaurants Onsite (Including Operating Hours)
The resort offers a fantastic array of dining options, preventing the need to venture out into town every evening. We enjoyed breakfast in the main dining area, which was a lovely way to start the day. We also utilized the convenience of getting food and cocktails by the pool.

Shopping Onsite (Including Operating Hours)
Onsite shopping is focused on guest convenience and essentials. The primary retail location is The Marketplace Express, which operates 24/7. This market is a vital stop for grabbing drinks, snacks, quick meals, and any necessities. For golf enthusiasts, the Pro Shop associated with the championship course also offers high-quality apparel and equipment.
Pools and Water Recreation
As you might expect in Palm Springs, the pool area is a central feature. We definitely utilized the main pool, which includes a cocktail bar and numerous comfortable chairs for sunbathing. The pool itself was refreshing and cleanâa traditional American-style pool, perfect for swimming and relaxing, less focused on dramatic European-style designs. While I was occupied with work, my travel partner was able to fully enjoy her time laying out and soaking up the famous Palm Springs sun.
Activities & Amenities
Beyond the pool, the resort is rich in activities that cater to fitness, golf, and leisure.
Golf: The resort is centered around two championship golf courses, making it a prime destination for golfers.
Fitness Studio: We definitely enjoyed the really nice gym. It is fully equipped with everything you need to maintain your fitness routine while on vacation or visiting for a short weekend.
Other Amenities: The resort is pet-friendly, welcoming four-legged guests, and the spacious grounds offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains and desert landscape.
The Spa
For guests seeking true rejuvenation, there is a dedicated spa at this location. The full-service spa offers a tranquil environment for personalized treatments, providing the perfect way to recharge and enrich your stay. We found that utilizing amenities like the spa and the extensive gym facilities allowed us to fully relax and maximize our time at the resort.
Final Closing
The Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa truly offers a complete and enriching vacation experience. The combination of resort-style luxury with the self-sufficiency of a massive suiteâincluding the full kitchen and in-room laundryâmakes it highly appealing for extended stays. Whether youâre a local on a staycation or, like us, flying in from out of town, this destination provides everything needed for a comfortable, enjoyable, and amenity-rich visit in Rancho Mirage.

I travel for a living, a Delta 1 Million Miler 1MM, 10 years Diamond Medallion, 7 years straight Marriott Ambassador Elite, and oddly still Hilton Diamond (lame!). Itâs the stories I collect along the way that truly fuel me.
From high-rise hotels in buzzing metropolises to quiet beachside cafĂŠs tucked between palm trees, my career takes me across the United States and beyondâand I take every opportunity to explore, taste, and soak up the local vibe. Whether I'm grabbing late-night bites in Belgium, sipping wine in Napa, or discovering rooftop gems in New York City, I always keep an eye out for the places and moments worth sharing.
