Chapter I: The Valley of Fire, Nevada

After landing in Las Vegas, pick up your rental and head northeast toward Arizona and Utah. Your first stop is Nevada’s oldest state park. Note that there is a per-vehicle entry fee at the gate.

 

Mouse’s Road Scenic Lookout

The most iconic view in the park. Park in the gravel lot at the below Google Maps coordinates and climb the rock for that winding road shot. It’s a roadside viewpoint where you can stop and look out over the desert landscape. These lookouts give panoramic views of the winding road cutting through red sandstone formations.

White Domes Loop

A diverse trail featuring slot canyons, desert vistas, and old movie sets. Park and walk a large circle around the trail back to your vehicle.

The Fire Wave

Walk down from the lot to see the striped sandstone “waves.” Best seen in the late afternoon light.

Where to Stay near Zion National Park

Chapter II: Zion National Park, Utah

 

Sunrise at Mount Carmel Canyon Overlook

The most iconic view in the park. Park in the gravel lot and climb the rock for that winding road shot.

Zion National Park

After sunrise, head into the main canyon. Park at the Visitors Center and utilize the free shuttle bus system to access the major trailheads and overlooks.

Chapter III: Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah

Logistics: Park at the Visitors Center (37.6401, -112.1701) and board the free shuttle.

 

The Navajo Loop + Queen’s Garden Trail

  1. Park at the Visitors Center (37.6401, -112.1701) and board the free shuttle.
  2. Disembark at the Sunset Point stop (#7).
  3. Walk to the Bryce Rim for panoramic views.
  4. Hike DOWN Navajo Loop Trail (Use AllTrails to stay on track).
  5. Cross through the Queens Garden.
  6. Hike back UP the Queens Garden Trail to Sunrise Point.
  7. Catch the shuttle (#13). its the first stop back to the Visitors Center (#6).

Wall Street

A unique drive along the Colorado River. On weekends, you’ll see climbers tackling the sheer cliff faces directly off the road.
