  • Hotel Fact: The design of The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale was inspired by luxury ocean liners and the city’s identity as a cruise port. In fact, the shape of the building mimics the stern of a cruise ship—a nod to Fort Lauderdale’s nautical heritage. Even the interiors carry this theme, with leather-wrapped furniture and beach-inspired artwork that make you feel like you’re sailing in style without ever leaving shore.

  • Pool Variety: The resort offers three distinct pools to suit different needs: a large, family-friendly Fountain Pool, a dedicated kids’ pool with a waterslide, and a tranquil, adults-only pool with a swim-up bar.

  • Complimentary Cabanas: Unlike many other resorts, the cabanas at the Fountain Pool are complimentary, and the resort has a policy to ensure they are available for all guests.

  • Exceptional Poolside Service: The staff provides excellent service, including complimentary flavored waters, sunscreen, cool towels, and hourly treats like smoothies.

Four Seasons Resort Maui: The Wailea Hawaii Oasis

You’ve seen the glossy photos. You’ve heard the whispers. But let me tell you, when you’re ready to treat yourself to a Maui luxury vacation, there’s one name that dominates the conversation: the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. Forget just taking a trip; you’re about to embark on a pilgrimage to one of the most famous and famously perfect hotels on the island. Get ready to feel like a celebrity… just don’t forget your credit card.

The Grand Arrival: Where Awestruck is Standard

Pulling into the property, you immediately realize you’re not at some run-of-the-mill chain hotel. No, you’re at the Four Seasons, and they are ready for their close-up. The entrance is a jaw-dropping symphony of lush, tropical vegetation, vibrant hibiscus flowers, and a grand entrance that practically demands you stop and take a photo. Inside, a beautiful chandelier hangs from the ceiling, sparkling in the bright sun that streams through the open-air design. This isn’t just a lobby; it’s a statement.

The hotel’s design is an architectural marvel—an “open-hotel concept” that means from the moment you step out of the car, you can look straight through the building and see the sparkling ocean and the sprawling pool area. It’s a stunning, beautifully laid-out lobby that serves as the heart of the resort. Trust me, you’ll be walking through these open, picturesque areas snapping “cute photos” at every turn, so have your phone ready. My personal favorite? Unwinding with a cocktail or a quick bite of sushi at the lobby bar, where the hotel bites are seriously top-notch.

A Brutally Honest Take on the Local Dining Scene

While the on-site dining is fantastic, a word of advice for you, my fellow luxury traveler. You might be tempted by Wolfgang Puck’s Spago, a partner restaurant with a stellar reputation for its sunset views. But honestly? We’ve tried it a few times and have been consistently let down by the service. From slow delivery of drinks to lazy staff and terrible seating even with a reservation, it’s been a frustrating experience. While the views are indeed spectacular, I’d honestly recommend skipping this one and saving your appetite for the other incredible restaurants on the property. Sometimes, a beautiful view just isn’t enough.

The Wailea Vibe: Upscale, Serene, and Exactly Your Speed

The exclusive Wailea enclave in Maui is the perfect backdrop for this resort. It’s blissfully quieter and leans toward a more upscale, refined atmosphere compared to other bustling tourist hubs. While you’ll still be sharing the beach with plenty of other guests from the numerous Wailea resorts, you won’t feel overwhelmed.

Need to grab some essentials or want a taste of local life? We often make the short drive into nearby Kihei, a charming and easy-to-navigate town with grocery stores and amazing local foodie spots for things like poke. It’s a great way to balance the resort bubble with some authentic island flavor.

Our Recent Room: An Ocean-View Sanctuary

Our Ocean-View King Room was a generous 600 square feet, complete with a separate living area and a bathroom so enormous it could practically be its own hotel room in Europe. It was a blissful sanctuary. The room was also equipped with a sound system that played soothing Hawaiian music or jazz through ceiling speakers, which was a lovely touch. I love that the bath amenities even include after-sun care, and for anything you might have forgotten, you can request it through the fantastic Four Seasons app.

Pools and Beach: A Tropical Paradise with Perks

The resort has three different pools, but we’re a family, so we live at the Fountain Pool. This pool is so friendly to families it practically hands you a complimentary cabana and a poolside Mai Tai in a fresh pineapple. Unlike many other Maui resorts, the cabanas here are free and easy to find, as long as you don’t disappear for more than an hour. The pool staff is incredible, providing flavored waters, sunscreen, magazines, and an hourly amenity ranging from smoothies to cool towels.

The beach is also stunning. The waves were a bit stronger during our last trip due to tropical storms, but we still enjoyed renting boogie boards. Chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, and volleyballs are all available for guests.
