Arriving at the Four Seasons Maui — The Lobby View Says Everything
Pulling into the property, the scale of the landscaping is the first thing you register — mature tropical planting, hibiscus lining the arrival drive, and a sense of arrival that earns the word “resort” in the way most properties don’t. The valet is smooth and immediate.
What makes the arrival genuinely memorable is the lobby design. The moment you walk through the entrance, the building opens straight through to the ocean and the pool area beyond. No walls between arrival and view — the Pacific is visible from the entrance. A chandelier catches the light from the open-air ceiling above. The design does something architecturally that most resorts attempt and few achieve: the sense that you’ve arrived somewhere built for this specific place, facing this specific ocean.

Spago carries significant credentials — Forbes Four Star, AAA Four Diamond, and Wolfgang Puck’s name — and the sunset views are genuinely spectacular. We’ve tried it multiple times. Our consistent experience: slow drink service, inattentive staff, and poor table placement even with advance reservations. The view alone isn’t enough when the service experience undermines a restaurant at this price point and reputation. We recommend Ferraro’s for the oceanfront setting and KOMO or DUO for a comparable quality level with more consistent execution. That said, your experience may differ — the credentials are real and the views are undeniable.

The exclusive Wailea enclave in Maui is the perfect backdrop for this resort. It’s blissfully quieter and leans toward a more upscale, refined atmosphere compared to other bustling tourist hubs. While you’ll still be sharing the beach with plenty of other guests from the numerous Wailea resorts, you won’t feel overwhelmed.
Need to grab some essentials or want a taste of local life? We often make the short drive into nearby Kihei, a charming and easy-to-navigate town with grocery stores and amazing local foodie spots for things like poke. It’s a great way to balance the resort bubble with some authentic island flavor.
Club Ocean View Room — 600 Sq Ft With a Bathroom That Earns Its Own Review
We stayed in the Club Ocean View King Room — 600 square feet, separate living area, ocean-facing balcony. The room is among the most spacious in its category on the island, and it shows in how it functions: two people can use the room simultaneously without feeling like they’re navigating around each other.
The bathroom is a standout in its own right. It’s large enough to feel residential rather than hotel-sized — twin vanities, a soaking tub, and a separate shower. Bath amenities extend to after-sun care, which is a thoughtful practical addition for guests spending long days on the beach or at the pool. A sound system with ceiling speakers plays Hawaiian music or jazz throughout the room — a small detail that sets a consistent mood without being intrusive.
